AirPods Max are designed with the following features to reduce their environmental impact:

Not all content available in DolbyAtmos. iPhone with TrueDepth camera required to create a personal profile for SpatialAudio, which will sync across Apple devices running the latest operating system software, including iOS, iPadOS, macOS andtvOS.

Testing conducted by Apple in November 2020 using preproduction AirPodsMax and software, paired with iPhone12 ProMax units and prerelease software. The playlist consisted of 358 unique audio tracks purchased from the iTunesStore (256-Kbps AAC encoding). Volume was set to 50per cent, ActiveNoiseCancellation on, and SpatialAudio on but not active. Testing consisted of full AirPodsMax battery discharge while playing audio until AirPodsMax stopped playback. Battery life depends on device settings, environment, usage and many other factors.
